Benefits of MI/ID teams

Despite system improvements, a persistent myth exists that patients with developmental disabilities don’t benefit from mental health services, including: trauma informed care, psychotherapies and state of the art medication regimens. MI/ID teams help to bridge the gap between mental health and developmental disabilities by forming partnerships across disciplines.

There are currently 45 MI/ID teams across Ohio’s 88 counties. Many of these teams represent partnerships between two or more county boards of developmental disabilities, mental health, or both.
