OCALI NW Ohio Autism Training Series

Through a partnership with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI), we are excited to offer a training opportunity for NW Ohio to support Transition Youth and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Building Awareness, Using Tools and Accessing Resources. This FREE 4-part series of Autism Professional Development will offer information to raise awareness and skills of those in attendance as well as resources for ongoing skill development of agency staff and community partners. Participants will increase understanding of adolescents and adults with ASD and learn about positive, proactive strategies and evidence-based practices to support individuals in the home, community and employment environments.

Each session in the series builds on information from previous sessions to assist the participant to develop a comprehensive and holistic approach to supporting individuals with ASD. Sessions include:

  • November 2nd, 2018: Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • December 5th , 2018: Communication
  • January 9th, 2019: Sensory
  • February 6th, 2019: Emotional Regulation and Puberty

Each session is 3 hours in length and will be offered twice each of the scheduled days (repeated in the afternoon).
Session times each training day:

  • 9 AM – 12 Noon (registration starts 8:00AM)
  • 1 PM – 4 PM (registration starts 12:00PM)

The training will be located at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Marimor School 2550 Ada Rd. Lima, Ohio. 

Please invite providers, SSAs, Employment Navigators, Mental Health providers and community partners who can benefit from this training. Application for continuing education has been submitted for DD, social work, counseling and nursing. Trainings will be offered in either regions throughout the state, information will be posted here as it becomes available.
